Sometimes I see boards set up that get very active very quickly, and with seemingly little quick by the admin. Is this just luck? A wise choice of topic? Or something else?

| I think it must be a little more than that. Promoting and advertising count to be a big part too. The rest, just boils down to the engagement of the users. |

But you often hear of boards where they claim they have done little (if anything) in the way of promotion. Are they just not telling the whole truth, or can it sometimes be that a forum gets huge on little effort?
