I am sure that you can, but the money comes from traffic and people using the articles in your directory on their sites.
This is difficult to get these days since there are so many article databases out there.

Seems like it.
I started submitting a couple of articles to article directories recently, and I’m astonished at finding so article directories. My guess is that there aren’t as many article directories as there are search directories, but there are still a bunch of article directories. Can you make money? Yeah, I think so, but you need to be a bit patient. You need to accept only articles that have some value. You probably want to acquire number of inbound links in order to make your article directory look attractive to writers. And … you need to keep working.

I agree with capeb. It's so competitive out there nowadays as every man and his dog seems to have an articles site. Hell, even if we have one! I think they can make money but you need to be one of the lucky top few to make a living from it.

I don't think it's a matter of luck. Like you always say, it's a matter of patience, perseverance and persistency. That being said, the question is 'Is this the best way to spend your time and effort?' The answer may not be 'Yes.'

Its possible you could do this by offering a really high quality article directory and marketing it too the larger networks looking for fresh content...Your talking about some serious investment here though.

But you need to invest your time, effort, some money or all of the above whatever you do, no?
