Can you make use of RSS to promote search directory? If so, how can you do it specifically?

The only idea off the top of my head is write category related articles and distribute them via RSS.

Is there any search directory script that creates RSS feed? Also have you seen any search directory that successfully promotes itself by making use of RSS feed? I can't really think of any ...

I can see how blog RSS feed can be used to promote blog. New site can use RSS as well. But ... search directory RSS feed? How do you use that to promote search directory? Is anyone interested in reading that?
