How often should your Google Sitemap ask Google to crawl your site?

Whenever you make changes to your site. If this is done daily, then daily would be the best. If there is nothing new, there is really no reason to have them to come back.

Once a week is good. It gives it enough time to update your new content and it also gives you time to fix things up (if your hosts crashes, find a new one by the end of the week).

Do you set up a cron job to do that or you do it manually? Also as you check Google crawling status from your Google account, do you see that Google bots visit your forum every single day?

Do you update Google sitemap everyday manually or you automate it? If you automate it, then what Google sitemap tool do you use? Also why did you decide to update Google sitemap everyday? Is there any particular reason?

| I set mine to daily. We have way over 50k pages that need to be crawled, so we have it rotate through several different sitemaps. |

How do you create this sitemap? When a site has 50k pages, the site needs to create a couple of sitemaps and link them up, doesn't it? Also what Google sitemap tool do you use?

IPB has a google sitemap creator, we have someone modify it to create a new sitemap after 50k.
Just add all the sitemaps to google, and it will automatically cycle through them. |

That's exactly what I want to find out. Some of my sites presumably have 50k+ pages; Google presumably indexed 50k+ pages at one time, so I think they do have 50k+ pages. I've been asking around to find out exactly how I can create a group of sitemaps to list all 50k+ pages, but I haven't really found a good answer yet.
