I see this site growing exponentially. One thing holding it back is tha it uses phpbb. When is vB coming around? Might be the next AF DP or SP.

Using phpbb isn't necessary a bad thing, but yes using vbulletin or maybe IPB does make it look more professional.

The thing is, I am at that point where I can't even look at a phpbb board without being disgusted. This forum has some good mods so it's a bit different.

I, myself, think VBulletin is a must! I'm not a big fan of phpBB either and looking forward to converting to Vb on my own forum... Very Happy

Please be kind to wait until phpBB 3.0 is out and I upgrade this board to phpBB 3.0. That should make this forum look more "professional." I do not have any immediate plan to switch from phpBB to vB.

Don't know if you this true, but there is a 50% possibility that the folks over @ phpBB aren't realeasing a patch or yet again any document to show us how to upgrade from 2 to 3... Although I find that really weird, we're talking about atleast 33.33333% of the whole web bulletin boards Rolling Eyes. I read it somewhere @ their site.. I'll see if I can get the link...

Yeah, but the development team mentioned about this though. They emphasized that you can download and test phpBB3.0 beta but beta is not made as a transition software. You can't really upgrade from phpBB 2.0.x to phpBB 3.0 beta, nor can you upgrade phpBB 3.0 beta to its final version.

Its not the point of what version or how phpBB upgrades, in general, all webmaster forums use vBulletin, there is just a professional side to it.

I would recommend it, but sticking with phpBB would be fine if this board can develop.

There are some hacks we need to install here (the one tha shows the threads one posted in ...) and I think we're OK. I dislike VB and I used it only on a forum. I do agree that many people would like the site on VB more, but there are also some who like phpBB more ...

Can't wait to see phpBB 3 come real indeed. i think it would give you everything you need Smile
