What guidelines do you have when you delete a thread? _________________ Online Education |

If it's crappy and short, or I can tell someone's just posting nonsense to drive up their count, or if it's completely uninformative/wrong, I delete it
Of course, if it was really offensive I'd delete it then too _________________ get help with emarketing at the email marketing forum

I'm not too crazy about one-liners, but one-liners can be tricky to deal with. Some one-liners are really creating interactions, and deleting them can kill off interactions. That's no good. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

haha, no kidding.
I recently posted a one-liner in a site-selling forum, all I said was something like: "this site is crappy" or something. It WAS a really crappy site, but it started a huge issue, people getting all offended, saying that I shouldn't be sharing my opinions, that the forum was for selling only, blah blah blah
anyhow, it was great! _________________ get help with emarketing at the email marketing forum

Some comments can spark pretty passionate and enthusiastic discussions. You certainly don't want to delete those comments. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

it's so true
though it may cost you a reputation point or infraction here or there, it's certainly worth the attention to stir up a little controversy _________________ get help with emarketing at the email marketing forum

Only if it's absolutely useless or a clone of another thread posted on the same page. _________________ www.nerdcouncil.com - Forums are finally done!!! |

Only time I really delete threads is if it's an old one with no replies. _________________ PooQ - www.pooq.co.uk

If a thread is really old and has no reply, I often reply, give additional information and resurrect it. The only threads I delete are spam threads. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

| Depends on the forum size I would say. For a small forum which is not very active, I don't think it's a good idea to easily delete a thread. |

Deleting threads with no replies isn't a very good promotion method at this point. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

| I really don't delete threads. My one forum is still pretty small, so I haven't had to deal with spam yet, but I will probably delete spam posts once it becomes a problem. I do move some threads to a private forum if they are inappropriate for some reason. So far, I've only had to do this with some posts from a paid poster. The posts were really low quality, but I didn't want to delete them. You never know when having a record of something like that might come in handy. Disputes or legal issues could always arise where it would be good to have the actual posts. |

That's an interesting point, though I never want to deal with that kind of problems.
I personally delete all forum spam like
"Cheap Viagra"
"{censored} {censored} p0rn"
"Online Poker" _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

I don't delete. I move to my hidden trash forum. This way i can always "document" on my removal and if the thread proved to be OK in the end and i just rushed into removing, I can always put it back _________________ Webmaster Tips & Tricks - Music forums - Movie forums |
