How should you position AdSense Link unit in order to get high CTR?

Read the Google Adsense official web site, it shows you the best places, particularly at the top or left side of the screen.

Ok, that's a vertical link unit, right? What if there is no left navigation? For example, forums don't have any left navigation. Ok, some forums have, but most forums don't. How should you position link unit in that case?

| I haven't really tested link units that much, so my opinion may not count for much, but I would think that making them look like navigation would be the most successfull. That's what I've heard from other webmasters as well. |

Yeah, that seems to be one of the most effective ways to use link unit. So, you either put it right under your top navigation or put it right under or right above the footer navigation. That's the most effective way to use link unit.

... how do you mean by that? Do you mean that you want to place the link unit right under the top navigation? Do you mean that you don't want to place the link unit above the top navigation? ???

You also need to make an adjustment according to user behavior. For example, if you're running a forum, many users (forum members) go straight to latest posts; latest posts are not necessarily located at the top. So, if you put a link unit at the top, they don't see it.
