I have been kicking around the idea of installing a hack that will make SE "friendly" urls on my forum.
Is this worth the time? Or is it just one of those things that people assume that the SE likes and do anyway? _________________ Webmaster Blog | Free forums | Free Hit Counter |

yeah so that instead of showthread.php?t=232
You would get /thread-232.html
or
/great-thread.html _________________ Webmaster Blog | Free forums | Free Hit Counter |

| I use it on my forum. I don't use vBSEO, I use a free one I found on vbulletin.org you might want to check that out. Works just like paid one. |

I would make the change if it's not too much trouble, but from what I saw and experienced, it does not make that much difference. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

I think this is not needed .... VB gets spidered and indexed without any problems.... and if you already have some content on forums (topics and posts) you could face duplicate content _________________ Soccer Forum

Well, I have installed this on most of my forums. i think it won't be harmful since everything if going on well. Took me 2 minutes to install a mod rewrite hack on phpBB. Could be better this way _________________ Webmaster Tips & Tricks - Music forums - Movie forums |

I haven't installed it yet, but I am planning to.
I am in the middle of deciding what to do with my site and am going to install some more mods and then redesign. At the same time I am planning on installing VBrewrite which is the free one on vb.org
As far as I can tell it is "almost" just as good as VBSEO. With VBSEO you get a lot of advantages since it has a lot of plugins for the various popular mods/hacks available for VB, but I do think that it is overpriced. Maybe if they charged less and then charged a moderate fee for the plugins _________________ Webmaster Blog | Free forums | Free Hit Counter |

| mod rewrite using apache in htaccess is very good since you can make vars in php turn in html pages or subdir. |
