Is Google AdSense a good ad publishing system to use in forums? Is it a good way to generate revenue?

Adsense is the best way to generate any web site. If you want to use it on forums make sure to check out this tips http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html

I find it best to make users pay to advertise rather than using Google Adsense. User sites are usually of higher quality and the webmaster usually earns more money.

Agreed. Adsense is good for most websites, but terrible for forums because of the high number of views and very very low number of clicks. I recommend private advertisers instead of Adsense.

Adsense has been the best revenue source for me on games forums. Private advertisers are hard to come by in significant numbers.

I agree that AdSense works well on websites but performs less well on forums. I have a number of sites (forum-based and non-forum based) which consistently show this to be the case.

All forms of ppc advertising perform much more poorly on forums than standard web pages. You really need a lot of traffic to get any significant amounts from it.

I agree, and if you track your CTR then you will be disappointed. On a forum just think about all of the impressions that a visitor will probably check out. That said I have not found any easy way to make money on a forum The majority of ways that I have tried include a lot of time on my part working with advertisers directly.

Ageed 100% on this with GTAce. I have over 1000 members and I get good traffic on my forums but I hardly get any clicks on them. It took my over 7 months what I earned with AdSense while the same amount was earned within one from private advertisers.

What I find to be good is when you have adlink units after first post. Check it out on http://www.istoritve.com how it looks. This is getting much more attention that big visible ads on forums.

Anything is good for a successful forum. Adsense is a serious network and I have nothing to complain about it yet. The problem is not have even more traffic and activity to increase revenue. This is my battle Wink
