Hi
I run directories and they only have pro's in my eyes, that is, I get paid per outbound click from my site. I use an espotting directory with over 600 categories, and also link in mirago results all of which pay out very well on the click. The mirago side of things powers the user searches aswell, i.e. via the search box. Everything is done in the look of my site.

What kind of traffic do you have on those directories? Also are they affected by Google's recent change?

The amount of traffic is not as good as I would wish, generally around 250 unique visitors a day. I would like to see this figure double or better.
Breakdown of search engine traffic...
80% Yahoo
12% Google
balance - other search engines

Also, I am in this for the long haul and developing a site a year will bring in a cumulative effect with regard to income. Additionally, traffic building takes time and I am seeing a gradual increase in visitors over time... I am prepared to wait. After all this is a spare time hobby for me, and it pays so I am happy
