Should you select members? For example, should you just ban posters who only make one-liners? Should you just ban posters who just post in Introduction forum? What do you think? Is this Nazi? _________________ Online Education |

There's no point selecting members unless the forum is like a school one where you don't want outsiders.
Until the person does something wrong then you might as well just let them stay and allow the chance of them to post and contribute. _________________ Website Reviewer - Reviewing the best sites on the internet. |

I never banned people for one liners. I just send a VERY friendly PM telling them that they mean a lot to the community and that I appreciate their time and effort. I also mention that in order for us to have the good community we;re proud of we need quality content. I have some ex-one liners change over night. Some are the best members I have and were even promoted to mod status because of the excellent quality of their posts, attitude and tenure. I try not to close the doors in anyone;s nose and I caught more flies with honey than vinegar _________________ Webmaster Tips & Tricks - Music forums - Movie forums |

I would never try and select members, unless I have a fairly crowded forum, then maybe I'll put up a complex anti spam script. According to some SEs, one lined posts, are yet, one lined pages, giving you the big "site" advantage. So, just add an automatic PM code that would tell the users to post properly or bla bla. Oh and you might also try to put up a small javascript that uses regex to figure out how many words that post is and if its less than the minimum then alert the user...
My 2 cents...
Somewhere in my mind, what I just wrote makes sense ! |
