Advertising media and budget

What different forms of advertising do you make use of? And what do you find works best for your site? What kind of budget do you expect to give a good return?

Probably this is because I'm Mr. Cheap, but I only spent about $3 so far on advertisement.

I've been given some adwords vouchers so have been trying them out.
So far have spent nothing of my own money and generated about 200 uniques for a site thats only been up a few days.

May try expanding this advertising once I get a good user base on the site.

Never forget about offline advertising also, can provide a huge amount of interest
