Where is the best place to put adsense in a forum enviroment?

I am going to add it to one of my sites so I would like to know where I can put it to have the greatest effect.

Does the location that is on this site get a "good" CTR?

How about the users? How do you like the placement? Does it get in the way of the forum?

The ads would clearly get viewed the most if put on the top of the page, however if you have VBulletin a lot of people get good CTRs placing the ads inbetween posts. I think you need a vBulletin addon to do this, though.

You can tweak any forum to do that Very Happy ... I did it on http://www.goalchat.com between posts a little different than on other sites ... check it out hehe

I would also put ads on left side 160x600 if I could, but you have to have design for that

So I should try something like what is on this forum

also what about the idea of showing big ads on at the top to guests.

Generally speaking, you want to display ads at three different locations.

1. Right above the first post
2. Right below the first post
3. Right below the last post

You do not need any add-on or anything. All you need to do is figure out how posts are created and add a few lines of code to do this.

I actually looked at the code and did this by myself, though I did reference one article. Keep reminding me. I'll write a short article on how to insert ad units like this forum at some point ...

I have my ads in the top right hand corner of the page. When I was running Adsense I found this provided me with a good clickthrough rate [good for a forum anyway.]

I think it's best to wait until you have a decent community of users before introducing adsense

otherwise you risk turning people off

Okay... here's your next reminder!!! I'd really appreciate it, since it'd save me time I don't quite have right now for it. (There'll always be time for it one day, yes, but it'd have to climb in a very long queue!)

Well, it's not quite 3 days yet, but anyway... Laughing

I went ahead and did a jimmy myself... only for 6 of the 12 templates so far, though. I'll do the other 6 as time permits.

Did only in topic view, 1 below first post, and one below last post (of each page).

How does it look?
