Dont know if anyone still needs this, but this is how i did it on my vbulletin installation.

From CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Templates.

Double click on 'Postbit templates' and then again on 'Postbit'

At very bottom of template paste following...

--------------------------------
<if condition="$post[postcount]==1">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellpadding]" border="0" width="100%">
<tr><td align="center">
<!-- adsense begins - paste your adsense code below -->

<!-- /Adsense Ends -->
</td></tr></table>
</if>
-------------------------------------------

This will put an advert below first post on each page, can be easily modified to display elsewhere

Yes. So far I've added google ads for the following templates:

ehHypershadow
subSilver
Aliens
wowHorde
Avalanche
Matrix

Still have to do for:

mylManga
subBlack3D
Solaris
Submerged
Ti2000
whatisreal

Tried to blend the colours in as much as I could for each of them.

A 728 banner at the top of each topic list and each topic is where I've got the best ctr on several forums. You must have the ads above the fold. Don't bother putting them right at the top of the page next to your logo. You've got to get them right in were peoples eye might cross them during normal reading. I avoid putting them after the 1st post though because personally I find that annoying. Put the banner at the top of topic view and topics with as little space or borders between the 2 as possible. I've found ads at the bottom of threads don't often get clicked.

I've just coded a new 'stealth' advert onto a few of my pages, thought i'd put some suggestions for topics to start as its quite a new board and to give people some inspiration.

Got an RSS feed delivering top ten albums for example that links through to iTunes store when clicked on, looks ok I think but will just have to see if it delivers

Can be seen here if anyones interested -> http://www.pooq.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=24
