I am currently using Link Vault to get links for some of my sites

However the problem now is that I started a brand new site and can't seem to be able to get links for the site.

I don't want to go through the time submitting it to directories but I need links

What is some good ways that you use to generate links and therefore PR?

Directory submissions and forum signatures. Boring, cumbersome and mundane, but these are two solid ways to acquire one way links.

Best link acquisition tool out there, but not good enough, IMO.

Problem 1: These tools (e.g., Link Vault, Digital Point Coop) use Google API to give credits to participants. However, Google API does not provide the most stable statistics. Hence, these tools cannot give credits to participants while they assure stability.

Problem 2: Many participants are suffering evidently because search engines are penalizing them, since they're a part of networks, most participants suffer as a result.

Can you track an increase in traffic through the use of Link Vault?

Also, I was going to ask about penalization... is it likely that by using Link Vault that you could get zapped?

I've found forum signatures one of the best marketing tools.

Try and get an article on digg.com also, that helps no-end

No, not directly.

You need to provide space to Link Vault in order for you to acquire links within the network. Sites that provide space to Link Vault can get penalized. As I visit their forum and other webmaster forums, I see quite a few people mentioning about this (and screaming, yelling, crying, predicting the end of the world, etc.). Not every single site gets penalized, but it seems that chances are not slim.
