Hi
I have used Amazon a good while ago, but I never was able to make much from it. Can you confirm the type of associate program?
I used their creative in a shopping directory I run. I know there are better ways of running their associate program. _________________ Phil

If you browse products on the site, then each product has a link to make a purchase. If and when someone buys a product from my store like the one referenced here, then I will earn its commission. Contextual ads on the left side have nothing to do with Amazon. I'm just displaying them to make an extra buck or two. _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

Hi
Maybe not contextual but I can see a way to serve targetted ads on my site, I have a large directory and I can use a php include in the amazon URL to add a keyword/phrase to the URL based on what is on the page.
Take a look at this page for example
http://www.ukshopsnet.co.uk/finance/6331-Debt_Advice.html
php includes are used in the title tag, body text etc, I can use this include to adapt the amazon ad. Have a good look around and tell me what you think _________________ Phil

Hi
To add I have not used Amazon for ages, I had let it go actually as a means of making some money, but reading here has inspired me to give it another go. I think it adds some interest to the pages that are served. _________________ Phil

Hi
I make a reasonable amount from the directory itself as it is all ppc revenue share. The amazon I have added tonight, I have had a good play and visited a fair few links and amazon display very targetted books to the section of the site. I will now cross my fingers and hope I get some sales through amazon _________________ Phil

Google is said to be tightening up its duplicate content filter, and it is often said that it's getting more difficult to get high SERP using search directories and search directory-ish sites. What's your take on that? _________________ Travel News Online College Degree |

Well, I have set up the site in a way whereby I can change the onpage text periodically to keep it fresh. Also, there are not too many people who have been able to do what I have done with this particular directory feed, so I feel duplicate content penalties should not overly effect the site. Maybe - well chosen RSS feeds on the site could add daily new content to the pages of the site, this could help vary the page content on a daily basis. _________________ Phil

What worked for me couple of times is when you get some review of the book or product from amazon and simply put a link to that product. You then make some seo so SE can find you and make sure they find you if user types name of the book or author. In most situation that person is trying to buy a book. I made small fortune with Gardners Art through the ages from amazon and will continue to use Amazon since you can still get good money, but you have to know that golden ages of Amazon revenue are over and it is getting harder and harder everyday _________________ Soccer Forum
