For google you need content and plenty of it. Getting good links is important but if you don't have the content you are going to have a hard time.

I don't think that there is a good way to optimize in Google anymore.
They are really dropping the ball and the algo is getting cumbersome.
There are many in the SEO biz that are getting frustrated with the SERPs from G and how a lot of them are irrelevant

I have learnt the part about having content the hard way.... because recently i have started adding ALOT more content and google has indexed over 400 pages compaired to the 20 it used to have!

I have been wondering how constant update will affect SEO, in particular, constant update of blog. I plan to start experimenting this hopefully by the end of the month. WorldPress has a scheduling feature, so this can be done without great difficulty.

Quality backlinks are what really matter but you will never get quality backlinks without tons and tons of constantly updated quality content.

It seems that Google is valuing certain links more and more. Google did value certain links in the past, but you could get high rankings if you acquire gazillion links no matter where they come from. It seems that you must have a fair number of links that Google thinks are valuable in order to get high rankings today.
